In addition to measuring sap ascent, the module can measure downward sap flow. It can also measure tree thickness growth and temperature. The module can be used either individually or as part of a monitoring station and can therefore be combined with weather and soil moisture sensors.

  •     Measurement of the upward and downward sap flow
  •     Measurement of the xylem temperature at the side of the sap flow needles
    •   This allows better estimation of the flow velocities
  •     Large distances between the sap flow needles (at least 5 cm)
    •   This minimises the effects of wound reaction on measured values
  •     Overall improved conditions for long-term measurements
  •     Needles can be individually exchanged and replaced
  •     Connection of dendrometer
  •     Connection of temperature sensor
  •     Data output via SDI-12 Bus

We developed the module on behalf of the Projekts MW³ (standardised monitoring of growth responses of important forest tree species to extreme climatic events).
