Environmental monitoring to protect cultural heritage

User report published:

We are glad to provide sensors as part of a system that is helping to preserve cultural monuments in Norway:

As a part of a long term urban environmental monitoring project, archaeological investigations were carried out in several cities in Norway by Cautus Geo AS and  COWI AS on behalf of the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU).
Among other locations, the Stavanger Cathedral was equipped with environmental monitoring equipment (including our pH and redox probes for in-situ measurements) to monitor the state of preservation.

The monitoring of the soil state ensures that the conditions for the preservation of archaeological artefacts in the subsoil are maintained and in turn are protected in-situ for future generations.
